Your health is essential to achieving your goals at UMBC. Access to health care and adequate health insurance is important to your health. Without adequate coverage, unexpected expenses could alter your future dramatically. That is why the university requires all students to have quality health insurance. This policy has proven to serve students well. It gives you, and your family, the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are well-insured.
Every year, every student is automatically charged for enrollment in the university-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan in order to ensure that students are able to receive the health care they might require. All new undergraduate students taking 6 or more credits must supply their health insurance information to University Health Services (UHS) through the link provided here: Aetna Insurance Waiver, before August 15 for domestic students and September 30 for international students. Students who do not complete the waiver to show proof of health insurance by this deadline will be automatically enrolled and billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan offered by University Health Services/Aetna Student Health. For additional information about the insurance requirement, please contact the insurance and billing department in University Health Services at 410-455-3221.
Our current policy is through Aetna Student Health. Here is an overview of the 2020-2021 policy the 2021-2022 will be available shortly.
